HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Home Away from Home is a book featuring 11 narratives written by my friends, colleagues, neighbors, and I describing the places in New York City where we each feel the most at home away from home. The book serves as both a archive and timestamp, exploring the intersection of personal identity and place.
My inspriation for the book derived from my experience as a non-native New Yorker trying to establish New York City as my home. Upon examining the varying ways in which my friends and I understood and defined the concept of ‘home’, I became interested in exploring what the places where we feel the most at home away from home reveal about our values, interests, and identities.
